TECHNICAL ERRORS
|
J. has closely analyzed, cross-checked and examined the 1975 Tom &
Jerry cartoons to find several flubs, goof-ups, mistakes and errors evident in
them. This page is the result of her exhaustive research. See if you can spot other errors!
80-03 "No
Way, Stowaways"
- The boomerang cannonball seems to sail on a very level path.
However, when it comes back, it flies in a curve, seemingly from much further
away than the previous scene suggested.
- When the "crow's nest," containing Tom and Jerry, comes down, it
goes over the keypad, despite the fact that there is obviously no room for
this to happen.
- Tom gulps way too soon at the captains implication that he and Jerry
will have to walk the plank.
- There is a blue background with a close-up of Jerry, despite the
fact that the previous scene suggested that parts of the ship can be seen in
the background.
- Tom and Jerry go off the plank feet first, but catch the plank with
their lower appendages (Tom's foot and Jerry's tail).
- Again with the "blue background" glitch, this time with the captain.
- The captain is suddenly much further away in relation to the plank.
- When Tom saws of the plank, and his end falls, it falls through the
ship.
- The rope on the anchor grows when Tom throws it.
- When Tom climbs the net with the cannonball, what is he standing
on?
- When Tom mops the deck, he rides in a "U" shape, heading stage
right. However, in the next shot, despite the fact that he was already far
away from the captain and closer to the viewer, he finishes the ride on the
first branch of the U, close to the captain.
- The captain's eyes are peeking through the portholes. However, in a
subsequent shot, his entire face is looking through one porthole.
- Tom and Jerry take cannons out of a bin and head off, in a straight
line, stage left. When a wave causes the boat to tip, Tom, Jerry, and a
cannonball fall in a straight line, stage right, into the captain's
cabin.
- The captain points, stage left, to the cannonballs. In the next
shot, which immediately follows, he points at them, stage right, with the
opposite hand.
- Jerry goes stage right to get the cannonballs. The previous scene
suggested the cannon, where he was supposed to put the cannonballs, was
there. Jerry runs back on, stage right, and goes off, stage left, to
the cannon.
- Tom seemingly teleports, with Jerry, to the plank.
- Tom seemingly teleports away from the plank.
80-02 "The Ski Bunny"
- In the scene where Tom and the female cat ski off into the distance,
the female cat's left ski pole goes behind a tree that is obviously very
far away in relation to her. The same thing happens with Tom's tail.
- The confused perspective in the aforementioned scene suggests that
Tom and the cat are bigger than the trees.
- In a close-up of Tom, there is a pure blue background, despite the
previous and subsequent suggestion of more snowy background behind him.
- Tom is suddenly flying on his skis, after being on the ground just
seconds ago. It doesn't show how he manages to get up in the air.
- How Tom jumps vertically out of the straps on his skis, during the
scene where he's showing off, is anyone's guess.
- In the showoff scene, Tom does a headstand on his skis. In the next
shot, he is walking on his hands with his feet in the skis.
- In a close-up shot of the female cat, there is a pure blue
background, despite previous and subsequent suggestion of more snowy background
behind her.
- The aforementioned "blue background" glitch happens again when the
female cat is skiing with Jerry.
- How Tom jumps vertically out of his ski straps is anybody's guess.
- The "blue background" glitch happens again, this time with Spike
skiing towards Tom and Jerry.
- The top of Spike's muzzle is painted darker brown in the close-up
of him skiing.
- Spike flies into a trashcan, which is in a path that Tom, Jerry,
and the cat skied through. It wasn't there before.
- When Tom pushes Jerry away, Jerry's skis change size.
- When Jerry gets pushed into the bottom of the tree, how he manages
to go upwards in it is anybody's guess.
- Tom had pushed Jerry off stage left, indicating that Tom, Jerry,
and the female cat were skiing (slowly) behind him. However, when Jerry quickly
returns, his path indicates that Tom and the female cat are now in
front of him. There is nothing to indicate that Tom and the female cat had, or
even should have, passed the tree that Jerry was pushed into.
- Again, the "blue background" glitch, with Tom.
- When Tom falls off the ski lift, he doesn't fall far before landing
on Spike.
- Again with the "blue background" glitch, with Tom and Spike.
- The female cat's pants change color.
- As Tom skis into the dog, his hat remains frozen above his head,
defying gravity.
- Again with the "blue background" glitch, with Spike.
- When Tom is chased by Spike, they turn around and go back the way
they came. Tom skis in a "snow loop" that wasn't there before.
- Jerry gets to the ski lift (wherever that is), to rescue Tom, way
to quickly.
- When Jerry lassos Tom with the rope, Tom is on the stage left side
of the mountain. When Jerry pulls him up, Tom is on the stage right side
of the mountain-- which has suddenly changed color.
- Again with the "blue background" glitch, this time with Tom and
Jerry.
- Tom and Jerry get back to the cabin, to escape the snowball, way
too quickly.
- As Spike and the female cat ski off into the distance, the female
cat's left ski pole goes behind a tree that is obviously very far away in
relation to her. The same thing happens with Spike's right ski pole.
- The confused perspective in the aforementioned scene suggests that
Spike and the cat are bigger than the trees.
80-01 "Stay Awake Or Else..."
- It is never clear where the back of the tent ends and the ring
itself begins.
- Tom enters the tent in the beginning stage right. It cuts to Jerry
and then back to Tom. He enters stage left. There isn't much continuity
here.
- Jerry shushes Tom and points stage left. It isn't clear where the
ringmaster is in relation to Tom and Jerry.
- When the ringmaster startles Tom awake, Tom shoots up, stage right,
hits the top of the tent, comes back town, bounces again back to the exact
same part of the tent roof as before. He comes to a halt stage left of where
he began, despite having traveled stage right.
- Tom keeps snoring but his mouth doesn't move when Jerry pulls on his
whisker. I believe this was a case of cutting corners? :)Tom also
"conveniently" stops snoring again when Jerry opens his eye (which is
much bigger than the other).
- The clock headphones are facing one way when Jerry takes them, but
facing the opposite when when they're on Tom's head, with nothing to explain
the change.
- The jack keeps making noise even after Jerry's done raising it.
- The noisemaker is much too long!
- Tom's eyes are yellow, yet Jerry paints the glasses white.
- When the ringmaster says "or it's out you go!" his foot is
seemingly "inside" of the object to his right.
- How Tom is standing after the marionette scene is anybody's guess.
- Jerry pushes the broom off screen one way, and brings it on screen
facing the other way.
- How the skates get on Tom's feet is anybody's guess!
- Tom is all too suddenly out in center ring.
- Tom comes into center ring...but wasn't he already there?
- Tom falls into the cannon backwards yet comes out forwards.
80-04 "No
Bones About It"
- The short cop is suddenly not on screen, despite his previous close
proximity, when the tall cop asks if anybody else is in the building.
- When Tom and Jerry chase the dog it is unclear where they are coming
from
and where the dog is in relation to them.
- When Tom starts operating the jack, the dog isn't near him, but in
the
next shot the dog is.
- The sign CIRCUS TODAY was not on the lion in the previous shot when
T&J walk past. Suddenly it is.
- Jerry's "roar" continues even after his mouth is closed.
- Tom grabs the bone and runs off screen right. Suddenly, he and Jerry
come in screen right in a completely different scene. Again, continuity
error.
- In the alley scene, nothing is holding the bone when Tom ties a bow
around it.
- Tom and Jerry were trapped in a dead end, yet, they run off stage
left
(where the dead end is) seemingly through the wall!
- The rope gets longer when it flies into the mechanical claw.
- Another inexplicable changing of scenes when the dog chases Tom and
Jerry at the end.
80-05 "An Ill Wind"
- Jerry's chair is suggested to be in an "up" position. However, when
he walks off of it, it's on the same plane as the ground.
- Tom and Jerry suddenly "teleport" away from where they were
relaxing.
- The closeup thirsty man is against a blue background, despite prior
suggestion of the desert in the background.
- When the thirsty man hands Jerry the map, there is a boulder behind
Jerry
where there was none before.
- The "blue background" glitch again, this time with Tom.
- The "blue background" glitch again, this time with Tom's hand.
- Again with the "blue background" glitch, with a closeup of Tom.
- Tom's hand is way too close to the ground when Jerry bandages it.
The previous shot showed Tom standing completely upright.
- Another "blue background" glitch, with both Tom and Jerry.
- Tom's eyebrow is somehow in front of the bandage on his head.
- Again with the "blue background" glitch, this time with Black
Barney.
- Again with the "blue background" glitch, with Black Barney.
- When Jerry tries to take the map from under Black Barney's foot,
there is a boulder behind Jerry where there was none before.
- For the next four closeups of Black Barney, the "blue background"
glitch happens again.
- When Tom and Jerry point to each other in one scene, Tom's left arm
disappears for a couple frames.
- When Tom and Jerry try to steal the map while Black Barney is
asleep, they enter with Tom on stage left and Jerry on stage right. However,
when Jerry hands Tom the peeler, their positions are reversed.
- Black Barney's arm is obviously very long if he can scratch and
swat his foot, while he's asleep, without sitting up.
- Black Barney is obviously very flexible if he can sit up and reach
his head out to his feet.
- In the scene where Tom and Jerry pretend to be rattlesnakes, Black
Barney continues to laugh after his mouth is closed.
- In one scene, Black Barney's hand is disproportionately large.
- When the sanitation car comes along, Tom and Jerry are in front of
it; in the next shot, they are to the side of it.
80-06 "Beach Bully"
- When Jerry jiggles the bully cat's lip, the cat's body jiggles, but
Jerry doesn't move, despite standing on the cat's chest.
- Jerry was wearing a bathing suit and no bowtie in the previous
scene. Now he's wearing a bowtie and no bathing suit when the bully cat is chasing
him.
- Tom and Jerry's beach towel changes position in relation to the
radio (or vise-versa) from the previous scene.
- There was a picnic basket next to Tom and Jerry in a prior scene. It
is no longer there.
- When Tom turns on the radio, the bully cat and his beach towel are
not next to Tom. In the next shot, they are.
- The foreshortning on Tom, when he's laying down and the bully cat
turns the radio off, is awkward.
- In a couple frames, the bully's nose is colored the same as the rest
of his muzzle.
- When Tom holds the lobster, there is a blue background, despite
prior suggestion of beach scenery behind him.
- Tom and Jerry and their beach towel are suddenly further away from
the bully cat than before.
- The bully's arm is way too long when he turns off the radio, after
Tom and Jerry laugh about their lobster prank.
- When Jerry pushes the pipe underground, the end of it gets wider.
- The next shot suggests that the pipe has gotten much longer.
- When Tom and Jerry, who were playing badmiton, see the bully run
into Spike, their badmiton net is no longer there.
- The net is back in the next shot, and it seems it has conveniently
moved for Spike to use it as a slingshot to fire the bully cat across the
beach.
- When the wave comes crashing on the bully cat, he is facing stage
right. When the water clears, he is facing stage left.
- The last unbroken piece of the surfboard that the bully cat is
riding on changes size from one shot to the next.
- In the scene where the bully cat is in the trashcan, Tom's right
leg has an extra joint.
- Again with the "blue background" glitch, this time with the bully
cat peeking out of the trashcan.
- When Tom throws the banana peel, it flies off stage right and into
Spike's face. The ocean is almost immediately stage left of Tom and
Jerry. However, in the next scene, the ocean is also almost immediately stage
left of Spike.
- There is a rock ledge in the background behind Tom and Jerry, who
are on their beach blanket, where there was none before.
- Again with the "blue background" glitch, this time with Spike.
- When Spike finds the banana on the cat's chest, he is no longer
laying anywhere near Tom and Jerry.
- Again with the "blue background" glitch, this time with the bully
cat, for the next two closeups of him.
- The bully cat is on one side of the water (the other side of the
ocean??) while Spike is on the other. When Spike is pulled along with
the bully cat's fishing line, Spike is pulled across the beach.
- Again with the "blue background" glitch, this time with the bully
cat.
- Spike gets pulled under a dock, even though it's already suggested
that he's been pulled far out in the water.
- Spike and the bully cat meet on the side of the water that Spike
started being pulled from.
- Where Tom and Jerry are in relation to the bully cat and Spike, as
they watch Spike teach the bully cat a lesson, is unclear.
80-07 "Mammmoth Manhunt"
- In the establishing shot of the TV, you can see only one person on
TV. When it cuts to close-up, you can see two people on TV.
- Either the voice of the narrator on TV and the voice of the news reporter
are the same, or the reporter has just done a remarkable feat of
ventriloquism when announcing that the mammoth has escaped.
- Jerry seems to teleport over to the door between his initial sneak
with the fly swatter and his actual arrival at the door.
- Tom and Jerry are standing next to the door when the mammoth is
outside. However, the way the cuts from Tom and Jerry to the mammoth are done,
it appears Tom and Jerry are directly across from the mammoth.
- When the mammoth tells Tom and Jerry that he wants to go home, Tom
and Jerry are holding a broom and flyswatter. In the next shot, these items
are gone.
- When the mammoth is looking at the newspaper, the background has a
bluish shade. However, the following close-up of the mammoth shows a solid tan
background.
- Again with the "tan background" glitch, this time with Tom and
Jerry.
- Again with the "tan background" glitch, this time with Jerry and the
mammoth.
- When Tom and Jerry open the door for the cop, there is a lamp in the
background where there wasn't one before.
10. There is a window on the outside of the house, to the right of the
door. There isn't one on the inside. Instead, there is a framed picture.
- The fruit stand seems to come out of nowhere.
- The mammoth eats the banana with his trunk.
- It isn't clear where the hill, which the mammoth rolls down, begins
and ends.
- Again with the "background" glitch (this time with the color blue),
this time with the mammoth.
- Again with the "blue background" glitch, this time with the fruit
vendor.
- It is unclear where the zookeeper and cop are in relation to the
mammoth.
- When the mammoth passes the seesaw, there is one background. In the
shot where he is on the seesaw, he's on a different background.
- Again with the "blue background" glitch, this time with the mammoth
and Jerry.
- The zookeeper, with his net, clearly fell in the path of the
seesaw. However, when he lands, the seesaw isn't there.
- The zookeeper places the last of the peanuts, and travels a long
distance, way too quickly.
- The zookeeper somehow teleports from his hiding place in the bush
to his position next to the cop and the cage for the mammoth.
- The trail of peanuts seemingly ends in the same place it begins;
i.e. the continuity between the beginning and end of the trail isn't clear.
- The mammoth sucks the peanuts through his trunk, and then is
chewing on them with his mouth in the next shot.
- The distance between the "hiding bush" and the mammoth changes.
- Once again, the zookeeper teleports between the "hiding bush" and
the cage.
- The zookeeper is ranting in front of the cage. However, a
subsequent close-up suggests that the cage is no longer behind him.
- When Tom is pushing the ice-cream cart with the balloons, it isn't
clear where the zookeeper is in relation to Tom.
- The colors of the balloons that Tom, Jerry, and the mammoth fly on constantly change.
- Again with the "blue background" glitch, this time with the
zookeeper.
- Tom, Jerry, and the mammoth fly on some balloons over the land,
toward the ocean, where a ship awaits. When they are flying over the land, the
background suddenly changes to an ocean background, with no kind of
transition.
- Again with the "blue background" glitch, this time with the
zookeeper.
- The rope at the edge of the pier, which the zookeeper throws, was
not in the previous shot. It seems to appear out of nowhere.
- The rope seems to grow in order to reach the ship.
- The zookeeper falls a short distance to the water, indicating that
he wasn't as high above the water as previously suggested.
80-08 "The Wacky World Of Sports"
- It seems that Tom's "trick tennis racquet," really a paddleball, has
an elastic cord that stretches further than its establishing shot suggested.
- The size of the inside of the stadium continually changes in relation to
Tom and Jerry.
- When Tom opens the collapsible pole, there is a blue sky background,
despite previous suggestion of a wall in the background.
- In the karate scene, Jerry is standing with some grass and a white
wall in the background. A close-up shot of him just shows the white wall as
the background.
- When Tom flies out of the stadium with the motor on his back, he
sails into a bus station. However, the next shot shows him outside, zooming
onto a bus.
- The background behind Tom changes in the different shots with him
lifting weights.
- In the beginning of the scene with the long jump event, it is
unclear where Tom and Jerry are in relation to each other.
- When Jerry jumps, his bowtie changes color for a couple frames.
- When Tom shows his "trick shoe" the color of the background changes
in the close-up.
- Tom's laugh continues for a split second after the scene changes to
the scene in which he gets ready to jump.
- It seems that Tom flies out of the stadium twice in one jump!
- Tom flies into a statue that wasn't there in the establishing shot
of the stadium.
- Where in the stadium, if it is in the stadium, the golf course is
is unclear, especially with the trees that are growing.
- Tom's golf ball flies into a pond. Yet, it rolls up a log coming
out of the pond.
- When Tom laughs at Jerry throwing the disc in the discus throw, his
proximity the audience changes.
- The establishing shot of the stadium showed many sporting arenas,
like courts, pools, and the like. There are far less of those when Tom's
discuss chances Tom around the stadium.
- It is never clear where the different sports arenas in the stadium
are in proximity to each other.
80-10 "Robin Ho Ho"
- The trees behind Robin Ho Ho change from the ones in the opening
shot to different ones in the closeup.
- When Little John comes up to Robin Ho Ho, the background changes
completely.
- The background changes again in the closeup of Robin Ho Ho.
- Little John points to Tom and Jerry, who have seemingly teleported
into the scene. They were not in the previous shot at all.
- When Tom, Jerry, and Robin are on screen together for the first
time, the background changes again.
- Little John disappears from the shot.
- When Tom and Jerry practice laughing, the background behind them
changes again.
- When Robin Hood critiques Tom and Jerry's laughing, the background
behind him changes in the closeup and then to one, in the wide shot, that was
not seen before in this episode.
- Tom and Jerry are against a different background than in the
previous shot.
- When Jerry takes the bow and arrow, the background changes in the
closeup.
- Jerry seemingly walks across the tree branch to the arrow pretty
fast.
- When Robin Ho Ho hands the arrow to Tom, a tree in the background
changes color from the previous shot.
- When Tom takes the arrow, the background changes from that in the
previous shot.
- When Tom fires the arrow, the background changes again.
- It is unclear where the target is in relation to Tom, Jerry, and
Robin Ho Ho.
- When Robin Ho Ho tells Tom and Jerry that they only have two more
tests to pass, the background changes again in his close-up.
- When Robin Ho Ho motions for his men to stop their laughing
practice, the men are no longer behind him at all in the close-up, despite the
fact that they were in the wideshot.
- In the shot where Tom and Jerry react to having to capture a fire
breathing dragon, they are seemingly closer to the shrubbery in the
background than they were before.
- When the merry men pull in the dragon, the background changes from
the previous one.
- In the wide shot of this action, the background changes again.
- Tom and Jerry's proximity to the tree in the background changes
from the wide shot to the close-up.
22. Tom, Jerry, and Robin Ho-Ho's proportions to the tree in the
background also change.
- Robin Ho-Ho's proximity to the tree also changes between shots.
- When Robin Ho-Ho motions for his men to stop laughing, the
background changes again.
- The background at the castle changes from the one in the
establishing shot.
- When Tom and Jerry pull down the drawbridge, the background changes
in the wide shot.
- When Tom and Jerry fall in the moat, the background changes.
- When Tom and Jerry run into the castle, the background changes.
- It is never clear where the dogs and crow are in proximity to Tom
and Jerry when they're on what is probably the castle roof.
- When the dogs chase Tom and Jerry, one skids and the other never
comes on screen. We don't know where he is. The next scene arbitarily
suggests that he's at the other end of the castle roof.
- The size of the steps in the background and their proximity to the
crow change in the scene where the crow insults the dogs.
- The crow's position on the sheriff's table changes from wide shot
to close-up.
- The crow gets smaller in relation to everything in the scene where
Tom and Jerry try to steal the feather.
- The hunting trophies on the wall behind the sheriff were not there
in the previous scene.
- The guard dog's proximity to the bed changes when Tom walks in.
- There is a pillar where there was none before when Tom walks in.
- The crow's size, in relation to the bedroom, changes.
- The color of the wall outside the bedroom changes from green to
red.
- When Robin Ho-Ho greets Tom and Jerry and examines the feather, the
background changes from the close-up to the wide shot.
80-07 "Safe
But Not Sorry"
- The truck goes down the street, stage left. It stops and backs up, stage
right to a walkway that wasn't there. It enters another scene at an angle,
stage left. Confusing.
- In a close-up shot of Tom and Jerry, the walkway behind them appears to
climb at a steep vertical angle, like a wall.
- The location of Tom, Jerry, and the safe changes a few times throughout
this opening scene.
- Jerry is standing on the patio in front of the house. He is nowhere near
the door. In the next shot, he's in front of the door.
- The path to the house changes from stone to dirt.
- The path also gets wider in the close-up of Tom's feet.
- The dirt on the hill changes color.
- The angle of the van to the hill changes.
- Tom jumps straight down from the van. In the next shot, when he lands on
the catapult, it appears he has fallen at an angle.
- The same thing happens in the next catapult attempt, this time with both
Tom and Jerry.
- In the establishing shot of the cannonball scene, Jerry's head is in
front of the roof of a house. In the next shot, it is nowhere near the
house. In the shot after that, there is a solid blue background behind him.
In the shot after that, he is even further away from the house.
- In the balloon scene, Tom and Jerry pull the safe onto the patio
perpendicular to the door. In the next shot, it's indicitive that they are
parallel to the door.
- The safe escapes with the balloon, going straight up. It falls straight
down. However, it is much further from the house than before.
- In the rocket scene, there are far fewer houses in the background than
before.
- The rocket sends the safe into the van in a straight line. The next shot
shows the van at an angle from where the rocket went in.
- Another "blue background" glitch, this time in the plane scene, with Tom
and Jerry.
- When Tom and Jerry construct the plane, they are away from the bottom of
the hill. In the next shot, they're right at the bottom of it.
- The van is right at the bottom of the hill when the plane flies over it.
It wasn't there before.
- Tom and Jerry are in a field when the plane comes flying overhead. It's
unclear where this field is.
- Again with the "blue background" glitch, this time with Tom and Jerry.
- It is unclear where the pool is in relation to everything else.
- Again with the "blue background" glitch, this time with Tom tagging the
safe.
- Tom and Jerry are deliverymen, yet, they transfer the job to a mailman.
- It is unclear where the mailbox is in relation to everything else.
- How the mailman got the safe up the hill so easily is anybody's guess.
- The mailman gets to the bottom of the hill way to quickly.
- The mailman's truck has changed location from the previous scene.
- Again with the "blue background" glitch, this time with the dog.
- Tom and Jerry are in the field again. It's still unclear where the field
is.
- The label on the growth formula bottle is upside-down.
- In the scene where Tom pours the formula, both of his arms are too
short.
- The safe is at the top of the hill. It goes through the house, turns
around, and is suddenly at the bottom of the hill, in the truck.
- Again with the "blue background" glitch, this time with Tom and Jerry,
in the last two shots of them.
- The path on the hill changes from straight to zigzag and back again
througout the cartoon.
80-09 "Gopher Broke"
- Jerry is standing on a grassy background in the opening shot. The
following shot shows him standing on a dirt background.
- Jerry's garden is established to be to stage right of Tom's. The
next shot, however, shows no garden next to Jerry on stage left.
- There's no longer a garden to the stage right of Tom's garden.
- There are suddenly no plants in Tom's garden, in the scene where
he's laughing at Jerry.
- Tom and Jerry are suddenly teleported away from the garden. It is
not clear where they are in relation to it.
- When the gopher is flushed out of the hole by the hose, he comes out
by himself. The next shot shows him in a bathtub, still supported by the
water from the hose.
- The gopher falls further than the suggested height he was projected
to.
- There is a blue background behind Tom and Jerry, despite prior
suggestion of other things in the background.
- The gopher falls straight down, but there is no longer a hole in the
ground. Heck, the entire background has changed!
- There is also an umbrella, which the gopher didn't have before.
- The scenery completely changes when Tom and Jerry chase the gopher.
- When Tom and Jerry lift the bulldog's house and his food dish, the
ground keeps alternating between grassy and dirt.
- The dog's dish teleports from a few feet away from his dog house to
right in front of it.
- The dish teleports away from the dog house again, and there is no
bone in it like there was in the previous shot.
- The key in the music box doesn't turn when the music (what music?
the background music?) plays.
- When Tom and Jerry sneak away from the doghouse, it is unclear
where they are in relation to it.
- It is unclear where Tom and Jerry are in relation to each other
when Jerry makes the sculpture and Tom builds the seesaw.
- It is suggested that Jerry is stage right of Tom when he is
building the sculpture, but Jerry comes over to Tom, with the sculpture, from stage
left.
- In the close-up of Tom and Jerry hiding behind the tree, there is a
branch stub where there was none before.
- When the gopher comes out of his hole to get the radish, the
following shot shows no hole. The hole later reappears.
- In the scene where Tom sends Jerry down the gopher's hole, when
he's listening to hear what's going on, his tail looks like it's growing out
of his hip.
- In this same scene, the background has changed somewhat from the
prior one where Jerry first jumped down the hole.
- When Jerry bows to Tom, the background behind him changes from dirt
to grass.
- When Tom pushes the metal/gopher detector, with Jerry on it, Jerry
points to the hole. Suddenly, Tom is off camera, and comes back with
the bowling ball. Another case of apparent teleportation.
- The tree stump that Tom climbs on wasn't there before.
- When Tom gets pulled down the hole, he is the same size in relation
to the tunnel that Jerry was.
- The doghouse changes its location in relationship to the fence,
from a prior scene.
- The hole is suddenly further away from the doghouse than it was in
the previous scene, where it spat Tom out in front of the dog.
- It isn't clear where Tom and Jerry are when they make the fake
gopher hole.
- Tom and Jerry seemingly teleport to the gopher hole, which is in
front of another background.
- The gopher, chewing on the carrot, is in front of a blue
background, despite prior suggestion of more elaborate scenery.
- The gopher hole is against yet another background.
- The trashcan that Tom deposits the gopher in seems to be where the
hole was.
- When the gopher pushes Tom into the trashcan and sends him to the
city dump, the scene with the "city dump" sign seems to not have any
continuity with the previous scene.
- The city dump is rather small.
- In the scene where Tom and Jerry spray the inside of the gopher's
hole, the background changes between the close-up and the following wide
shot.
- The bulldog's doghouse is missing a wall.
- It also seems that the dog and doghouse have moved from where we
last saw them.
- The gopher's hole is against yet another background.
- Tom, Jerry, and the bulldog are hiding behind a tree that was
established as having no branch stubs, and then one. It now has two.
- In a close-up of the garden, it seems that only the sky is behind
the garden.
- Tom and Jerry's proximity, in relation to the bulldog, is unclear.
- In the close-up of the bowl with the radish, it is suggested that
the bowl is further away from the edge of the table despite suggestion of
the contrary in the prior shot.
- Again with the "blue background" glitch, this time with Tom.
- Somehow, Tom and the bulldog, in addition to Jerry, manage to jump
down a gopher-sized hole without any trouble.
80-11 "The Super Bowler"
- When the audience laughs at Jerry in the beginning, they are against
a blue background, despite prior suggestion of a more "diverse" background.
- It isn't clear where the judge is in proximity to Tom and Jerry, or
anybody else. He actually appears to be outside, suggested by the sky-blue
background.
- Tom throws the "split" ball off stage left. It enters the next shot
stage right. Confused continuity.
- Throughout the cartoon, the balls in the ball caddy change colors
from shot to shot.
- When Tom gets Jerry the trick ball, it isn't clear where he is in
relation to Jerry. It seems he is probably in a hallway. However, he
manages to reach Jerry, with the ball, too quickly.
- In the scene where Tom laughs at the joke he's playing on Jerry with
the trick ball, his position in proximity to the ball caddy has changed
from the previous shot.
- When Tom runs to the pinsetter, it is unclear how he gets there and
where the pinsetter is in relation to the alley.
- Tom reaches to open only one of the doors of the pinsetter, yet both
of them open.
- When Tom replaces a bowling pin with a trick pin, he seemingly
teleports from the inside of the pinsetter to the outside.
- When he comes back to the alley, it is, again, unclear where he got
there and where the scene is in relation to the last.
- In the scene in which Jerry waits for the pinsetter to replace the
pins, the trimming on the ball caddy in the background is a different color.
It was brown before, and is now black.
- When Tom escapes from Jerry throwing the ball, into the pinsetter,
he gets much smaller in relation to the pinsetter.
- Tom throws the ball off toward the front of the screen. It enters
the next scene from stage left.
- The ball caddy is much larger in the scene in which Tom cheats his
way out of a gutterball.
- When Tom puts glue on the floor and on Jerry's bowling ball, his
position changes in relation to the ball caddy.
- Tom's tongue is gray in this scene.
- When Tom tests his "whistle ball", it's unclear where he is.
- When Tom smiles with the whistle in his mouth, the background
changes.
- When Tom sees his trick ball heading toward him, he seemingly
teleports from where he was standing before.
- When Tom runs into the hallway, it is, again, unclear how he got
there, and unclear where it is in relation to everything else.
- The tiles on the floor in the hallway change color.
- The number of the lane that Tom and Jerry bowl at changes from 5 to
6 throughout the cartoon.
- When Jerry is given his trophy, it is unclear where he is in
relation to everything else.
- One shot shows Tom sleeping in his bed against the wall. The next
shot of him sleeping shows that he's also under a table, which wasn't in the
previous scene.
- It is unclear where Jerry's mousehole is in relation to where Tom
sleeps.
- In the scene where Jerry tries to fall asleep, his proximity to the
wall changes in from the wideshot to the close-up.
80-20 "Tricky McTrout"
- Tom and Jerry's alarm clock is not hanging over the water. However,
the camera pans straight down from it and into the water.
- The pan goes straight down to Tricky Mc Trout. He swims straight up
and comes out of the water in a completely different area than that of the
pan.
- The establishing shot of the campsite is different from the one
shown when Tricky McTrout wakes up Tom and Jerry.
- The forest ranger is standing with a mountain in the background. In
the close-up shot, the mountain is no longer there. Just a blue background.
- The background behind Tom and Jerry, after they are jolted out of
bed by Tricky McTrout, changes from one shot to the next.
- In the scene where Tom and Jerry decide to catch Tricky McTrout, the
background is different from that in the previous shot.
- When Tricky McTrout sends Tom and Jerry flying back to land in their
boat, it's unclear how they got there, and there is no continuity to
justify the position they ultimately land in.
- It's unclear how Tom and Jerry's boat broke.
- When Tom puts on his diver's helmet, he is sitting down. In the next
shot, he is standing up.
- When Tom goes underwater, he is missing his tail.
- The continuity in the scene where Tom, in his diver's suit, goes
flying to land, is awkward. He flies through the cabin and lands in an area
that wasn't there the last time he flew through it.
- Jerry picks up the box with the trick lure in it. In the next shot,
it is on the floor of the boat.
- Tom and Jerry send the lure down near their boat. When Tricky
McTrout comes up, he goes straight up yet does not end up anywhere near the
boat.
- When the lure reaches Tricky McTrout at the bottom of the lake, the
background changes a number of times.
- In the scene where Tricky McTrout imitates a duck, it is unclear
where he is in relation to Tom and Jerry.
- When Tricky McTrout imitates a beaver, he chews a log that wasn't
there before.
- It is unclear where the land is, with the tree that Tricky McTrout
chops down, in relation to where he started in the water.
- In the next immediate shot, Tricky McTrout is in the water again,
inexplicably.
- Right before Tricky McTrout goes to imitate a whale, he is near Tom
and Jerry's boat. In the next shot, he is nowhere near the boat.
- It is unclear just how, and how far, the lure is following Tricky
McTrout throughout much of this sequence.
- It is unclear where the cabin is, particularly in the last "cabin
wrecking" sequence, in relation to the water.
- Again with the "blue background" glitch, this time with the forest
ranger.
- When Tom and Jerry poke their heads in the bathtub, it appears that
Tom stuck his head through the bathtub wall.
80-13 "The Tennis Menace"
- When Jerry laughs at Tom in the beginning, there is a sky blue background
behind Jerry, despite prior suggestion of a more detailed background.
- In the scene where Jerry's tennis partner, Yvonne, is standing next to
the net, the perspective on the net is drawn awkwardly.
- In a scene where Tom falls down trying to hit the ball back to Jerry, the
racquet is swung in a backwards motion, yet the ball manages to fly
forwards.
- When Tom and his tennis partner, Big Bertha, go to shake hands with Jerry
and Yvonne, Tom is caught in the net and spinning around. Yet, a quick cut
to the next shot shows Tom on the ground, shaking hands with Jerry.
- In a scene where Tom hides behind the bushes to turn on the ball machine
to send a barrage of tennis balls to Jerry, a close-up of his hand indicates
a blue background. Tom is hiding in green bushes. This shot was obviously
reused from one in the beginning, where a blue background (the wall of the
court in relation to the ball machine) was appropriate.
- It is unclear where Tom is shooting the test ball, in relation to where
he hides.
- It is unclear, in the next scene, where Tom is (manually) serving the
ball in relation to where he stands.
- When Jerry runs up through the stadium to follow the ball, it's unclear
how he got there and where the stairs are in relation to the tennis court.
- When Jerry climbs the flagpole, it is unclear how he got there and where
it is in relation to the stairs, from the last shot, and the tennis court.
- Jerry seems to have climbed several hundred feet to the top of the
flagpole in a short amount of time.
- When Tom backs up into the fence, the bushes, where he hid before, are
no longer there. The fence also was not there before; the blue wall was.
- Tom swings his giant racquet in a downward path, yet the ball bounces up
when he hits it with said racquet.
- When Tom gets trapped in his giant racquet, he gets hurled into a wall
that wasn't there before.
- At the end, the tennis ball machine seems to have materialized out of
nowhere.
- When Tom accidentally assaults himself with the barrage of tennis balls,
he runs to fend them off with racquets. Continuity suggests he did this way
too quickly and grabbed the racquets way too quickly.
- The net small and placed very low.
- Tom and Jerry's sizes in relation to the stadium change throughout the
cartoon.
- The size of the court in relation to the stadium changes throughout the
cartoon.
- The lines on the court change constantly throughout the cartoon.
80-15 "Cosmic Cat And Meteor Mouse"
- Spike's bone and bowl fly up to the sky, despite suggestion from the
prior shot that it did not fly up high at all.
- The location of the television room, in relation to the rest of the
house, is unclear.
- The television announcer, who asks the audience if it ever has trouble
sleeping, stops moving as soon as Spike rushes into the room.
- When Spike laughs about removing the television knob, his mouth doesn't
move.
- When Tom and Jerry escape Spike, it is unclear where the room that they
hide in is in relation to the television room.
- Spike's proximity to the house is quite close. However, when Tom and
Jerry ran past him to get inside the house in the beginning, it took them
quite awhile to get there, suggesting a longer distance.
- The angle at which the fishing line pulled Tom into the tree is different
than the angle suggested when he is in the tree in the next shot.
- When Tom is hanging by the rope, to put the plugs in Spike's ears, there
is a blue background, despite prior suggestion of trees and the like around.
- The ear plugs change shape and size.
- Tom's nose is missing when he plugs Spike's ears.
- Again with the "blue background" glitch, when Tom is climbing the rope.
- When Spike pulls the plug on the television, the picture gradually fades
to black, instead of the expected sudden termination of the picture.
- When Spike pulls the plug, Tom and Jerry are sitting in the chair. In
the next shot, when Spike says he wants quiet, Tom and Jerry are standing
next to Spike.
- The merchant who sells Tom and Jerry the costumes refers to them as the
"TV special, the ever popular Cosmic Cat And Meteor Mouse outfits." It seems
he can't decide whether he's talking about the show or the costumes.
- Where Tom and Jerry are in the store, in relation to the merchant, is
unclear.
- When the merchant pulls out the story record, it is unclear where he,
and the record, are in relation to Tom, Jerry, and the rest of the store.
- When Tom and Jerry test the record, it is unclear where they are in
relation to the rest of the house.
- When Jerry turns the record player on and off, he uses two hands. They
appear to be much farther apart than the width of his body.
- Jerry is stage right of Tom when the two enter the scene to play the
trick on Spike. In the next shot, Jerry is stage left of Tom.
- Tom and Jerry's angle to the fence changes throughout this scene.
- In the scene where the record repeats "cosmic zinger, cosmic zinger"
Tom's white belly isn't there.
- Tom and Jerry's proximity to the garden changes throughout this scene.
- Again with the "blue background" glitch, this time with Spike playing
with the record player.
- After Spike plays with the record player on Tom's back, the next shot
doesn't have Spike in the scene.
- In the scene where the record speeds up, Tom's left arm shrinks
proportionally.
- In the scene where the real Cosmic Cat and Meteor Mouse come to scare
Spike, we see them flying through space. In the next shot, they are on
Earth.
- Between shots, CC&MM's sizes change in proportion
to T&J's house.
- In the scene where the real Cosmic Cat and Meteor Mouse confront Spike,
some shots of Spike show that there is a fence behind him. However, other
shots suggest that he is nowhere near the fence.
- When Spike spins around and flies up and off camera stage right, the
next shot shows that he has already landed.
- When Spike motions for Cosmic Cat and Meteor Mouse to stop, his hands
appear to be detached from his body.
- When Tom and Jerry watch through the window, it is unclear where they
are in relation to Spike, Cosmic Cat, and Meteor Mouse.
80-14 "Castle Wiz"
- The statue scares Jerry. A wide shot shows that he's nowhere near the
castle door. A close-up shot shows that he's in front of it.
- Both Tom and Jerry were not close to the castle door. However, when Jerry
jumps on Tom's head, both of them are close to the castle door.
- The statue's proximity to the castle door changes.
- When the bat doorknocker comes to life and scares Tom and Jerry, Tom and
Jerry's proximities to the door changes.
- Tom and Jerry run off camera, and in the next shot are hiding behind a
wall. It never showed them running toward this wall, and the continuity is
awkward.
- When Tom and Jerry escape through the graveyard, it is unclear how they
got there, and where the graveyard is in relation to the castle.
- When the vampire announces that he will show Tom and Jerry to their room,
the background in the close-up changes from the one in the previous wide
shot.
- When Tom and Jerry fall through the trap door, their proximity to the
vampire changes.
- The rug that covers the trap door changes shades of green from the wide
shot to the medium shot.
- Tom and Jerry's sizes in relation to the bed change from wide shot to
close up.
- Where the grandfather clock is in relation to Tom and Jerry, when they
are trying to sleep, is unclear.
- The establishing shot of the drawers, where Tom and Jerry hide,
indicates that the drawers are parallel to the wall. The close-up indicates
that they are perpendicular to the wall. When the ghost pops out of the
drawer, the chest is parallel to the wall again.
- Where the armor, which Tom and Jerry hide in, is in relation to the
previous shot is unclear.
- Tom and Jerry hide behind a curtain. Where it is in relation to the
"armor scene" is unclear.
- When the armor helmet falls next to the curtain, the helmet appears to
be about a third of the height of the room.
- In the same scene, Tom appears to be about the height of the room.
- Tom and Jerry have seemingly teleported to the upside-down room.
- In the upside-down room, Tom and Jerry's sizes in relation to the room
change throughout the scene.
- When Tom and Jerry jump into the ceiling lamp, it is unclear where the
lamp is in relation to the rest of the room.
- When Tom and Jerry open the door, they are facing the wall. In their
reaction shot to the ghost coming in the room, they are facing away from the
wall.
- When Tom taps his fingers on the ceiling/floor, the background is brown,
despite prior suggestion of more background details.
- When Jerry runs behind the revolving wall, we can see Tom running in the
opposite direction. It is unclear where he is in relation to Jerry.
- The colors in the magic painting change between the wide shot and
close-up.
- It is unclear whether the magic painting sent Tom and Jerry outside and,
if it did, exactly where it sent them.
- When Tom and Jerry run back into the castle, they run through rooms that
weren't there before in relation to the front of the castle.
- When Tom and Jerry hide under the couch, the size of the couch and the
color of the floor change between wide shot and medium shot.
- When Tom and Jerry hide in the piano, it's unclear how they got there
and where it is in relation to the prior scene. It seems to be in a room
that they ran through when coming back in the castle. However, it was not
there in that scene.
- The ghost is nowhere near the piano (and it is unclear where he is at
all), but in the next shot he's being pushed by it, heading stage left.
- When Tom and Jerry, in the piano, bounce down the stairs, it is unclear
where the stairs are in relation to everything else, and how Tom and Jerry
got there.
- When the vampire sees the piano barreling towards him, the color of the
floor changes between shots.
- It is unclear how the piano got outside the castle.
- The ghost is outside when he pulls the cord to retract the drawbridge.
In the next shot, he is nowhere near the exit.
- The piano crashes into a statue that wasn't there before.
- Jerry's size in relation to the piano keys changes.
- It's unclear where the window, which the ghost points to, is in relation
to the ghost and Tom and Jerry.
- The vampire presents the money, standing in an area where a wall was,
and the room ended, before.
- The next close-up of the vampire shows him in front of the wall. In the
previous shot, he was nowhere near the wall.
- Tom and Jerry's proximity to the wall, in the scene where the vampire
explains his tricks, constantly changes.
- When the vampire runs across the drawbridge and falls into the moat,
continuity between the two shots is awkward.
- When the vampire is moping in the moat, his left arm appears to be
growing out of his stomach, or detached from his body.
- When Tom and Jerry laugh at the end, there is a sky blue background,
despite prior suggestion of a darker and more diverse background.
80-16 "Grim And Bear It"
- In the establishing shot, Tom and Jerry aren't in front of the sign. It
is to their far, far (stage) left. In the next shot, they are in front of
the sign.
- In a closeup of the forest ranger's head, we can see a blue background,
despite prior suggestion of the forest around him.
- It is unclear where the bears and moose are in relation to Tom, Jerry,
and the forest ranger. Therefore, when the moose is in the tree, it's
unclear how he got there and where he is in relation to everything else.
- When the bear cub starts to chase the bee, the bee is right in front of
him, near the ground. In the next shot, it is high up in a tree.
- The continuity suggests that the bear cub got from the trunk of the honey
tree to the branch way too quickly.
- Tom and Jerry fall down the waterfall, on the log, horizontally. In the
next shot they are falling vertically on the log.
- When Tom and Jerry, taking the bear cub away from the trailer, skid to a
stop, they are in front of trees. In the next shot, there are no trees.
- Again with the "blue background" glitch, this time in the next two
close-up shots with the mother bear.
- Tom and Jerry descend the watch tower stage left. The enter the next
shot, with the mountain lion, stage left.
- When the bear cub grabs Tom's arm in the close-up, there is a tree
behind him. In the following medium shot, there is no tree behind him.
- It's unclear where the mother bear is in relation to Tom and the bear
cub.
- The continuity is confusing when the mother bear and bear cub fall down
from Tom's grip.
- In the scene where the bear cub eats the cookies, it's unclear where the
mother bear is in relation to everything else.
- When the cop tells a driver, who claims he was run over by a bear, that
he is in no condition to drive, his mouth doesn't move.
- The mother bear is larger than the house. In the scene where she runs
out of the garage, she is smaller than the house.
- Tom is described as being two feet tall. His size, when he runs past the
house, suggests that he is at least three or four feet tall.
- Jerry is described as being three or four inches tall. When he runs past
the house, he looks closer to a foot tall.
- The mother bear is described as being nine feet tall. When she runs past
the house she seems closer to six or seven feet tall.
- The bear cub is described as being twelve inches tall. It seems he is
about two feet tall.
80-19 "The Flying Sorceress"
- In the opening shot, Free Fall Freida flies through a door in hour house
and out another door parallel to it. She then comes down the chimney and rides
along the floor. She has easily passed where the doors would have been, but
they are not there.
- It also seems that the witch's house is bigger inside than outside.
- When the witch goes to the wall with the secret button, she goes
back to the direction she came from-- where the chimney was, which is no longer
there.
- A dresser and broom, which were not in the previous scene, are now
here.
- Continuity suggests that Tom and Jerry ascend on the broom way too
quickly.
- Tom and Jerry run towards the chimney. There is a door there
instead.
- When Tom feels around for the door, which the witch causes to
disappear, the perspective on Tom and Jerry is awkward in relation to the wall.
- In the aformentioned close-up shot, Tom and Jerry's sizes change in
relation to the wall. This suggests that Tom is probably about six feet
tall.
- The witch gestures to portraits on the wall that weren't there
before.
- The people in the portraits are much too large to fit in the
airplanes they stand next to.
- In one shot, Tom, Jerry, and the witch are standing near a corner.
In the next shot, they aren't standing near the corner.
- When Tom, Jerry, and the witch first start flying, Tom's hands are
colored gray.
- The witch drops Tom and Jerry out of her cauldron. When she goes to
catch them, she doesn't travel as far of a distance as they fell.
- Tom goes flying into an apple tree after the crop dusting scene. In
the next shot, he is on the ground under some apples. Awkward continuity.
- The apple tree changes size and shape from one shot to the next.
- When Tom flies into the tree, we can see a patch of farmland in the
background. In the next shot, when he is on the ground, the farmland is
no longer there, and a hill that could be obstructing it from view is not
suggested.
- When the witch, Tom, and Jerry enter the airport, the color of the
floor changes shades of blue from one shot to the next.
- The establishing shot of the inside of the airport shows check-in
desks. In the next shot they aren't there.
- It is unclear where the freight exit is in relation to the rest of
the inside of the airport.
- After the witch, Tom and Jerry land in Washington, the capitol
building is behind them. In the close-up shot, there is only a blue background.
80-27 "The
Kitten Sitters"
- The plant that Spike has to rescue is nowhere near him in the beginning.
However, he travels a short distance to catch it.
- When Spike hears a knock at the door, Tom and Jerry, who were previously
near Spike, are no longer there.
- Continuity suggests that Spike reaches the door too quickly.
- Spike sticks his head through the door. It is a few feet off the ground.
In the next shot, it's further through the door and much closer to the
ground.
- A similar glitch happens when Tom and Jerry open the door.
- Tom and Jerry, upon opening the door, are seen against a gray background,
despite prior suggestion of the inside of the house and its details in the
background.
- It is unclear where the sleeping Spike is in relation to Tom and Jerry.
- In the scene where Spike is holding Tom, the top of his muzzle is the
same color as the rest of him, for a couple of frames.
- In the same scene, Spike's left arm is disproportionately short.
- In the same scene, Spike's body is colored outside the lines.
- It is unclear where the kitten, walking under the pillow, is in relation
to Tom and Spike.
- Spike puts the kitten outside. In the next shot, he is nowhere near the
door.
- Tom and Jerry also inexplicably change from their previous locations.
- The design on the plant changes from the beginning to the shot where a
kitten is hiding in it.

- The cat, peeking out from behind the fish tank, is meowing, but his
mouth doesn't move.
- The fishtank changes location from before.
- A rug, which wasn't present before, is near the coocoo clock.
- Spike seems to have teleported to the coocoo clock.
- When the cat slides down the rope on the clock, he slides a long
distance, but the rope on the clock seems short in the next shot.
- Spike teleports again, in the scene where he realizes Tom and Jerry have
been hiding a kitten.
- When Spike gets hit by the ironing board, he is sitting in the corner.
In the close-up shot, there is no corner.
- When Spike gets ready to leave, there is a blue background, despite
prior suggestion of the neighborhood int he background.
- The layout of the house is unclear in this episode.
- The color of the tiles constantly change from blue to green in this
episode.
80-21 "Termites Plus Two"
- In the first scene with the termites, the head termite is facing
stage right. In the next shot, he is facing stage left.
- Why the radio explodes is anybody's guess.
- When Tom and Jerry prepare the "log sundae" for the termites, the
background changes from wide shot to close-up.
- When the termites go to eat the log, it isn't clear at first where
they are in relation to it.
- The termites exit stage left to get to the log. In the next shot,
they are in the air instead of on their bikes, descending straight down.
- When Tom puts the log, with the termites, in the water, there is a
forest in the background. In the next close-up, the background is blue.
- The log is on the plate when Tom puts it in the water. In the next
shot, the plate is gone.
- The log is sent down the lake perpendicular to the land. In the next
shot, it is parallel to the land.
- The termites get off the "log boat" at one side of the lake. Tom and
Jerry are on the opposite side. In the next shot, the termites and Tom
and Jerry are on the same side.
- The termites cut down trees that weren't there before.
- The trees that are cut down are tall and not cloes to each other.
When they fall on Tom and Jerry, they don't appear to have originated so far
apart, and fall a short distance, indicating that they're much shorter
than previously suggested.
- Four trees fell on Tom and Jerry. In the next shot, several more
are atop them-- and in a somewhat different formation.
- Where Tom and Jerry's house is in relation to the woods is not
clear.
- Where the piano is in relation to everything else isn't clear.
- It is unclear where the pool is in relation to Tom and Jerry's
house.
- The diving board seems much taller when Tom gets on it than when
Jerry gets on it.
- When Tom and Jerry dry off, it is unclear where they are.
- When Tom and Jerry are running with the ladder, it is unclear where
they are in relation to the pool and in general.
- Tom and Jerry run off camera with the ladder in hands. Continuity
suggests, in the next scene, that they got on the ladder quite fast.
- Again with the "blue background" glitch, this time with Tom on the
ladder.
- The anteater's proximity to the house, from one scene to the next,
changes.
- It is unclear where the termites are in relation to the anteater.
- Tom and Jerry's chairs were destroyed in the beginning of the
cartoon. In this scene, they're back.
- Tom and Jerry are clearly on the first floor of their house, but in
the next shot, they're running down some stairs when they decide to leave
the house.
- It is unclear where Tom and Jerry's car is in relation to the
house.
- Again with the "blue background" glitch, this time with Tom, right
after the car is destroyed.
- It is unclear how the rest of the car disappeared.
80-24 "Planet Pest"
- The UFO seems to be almost as large as the houses. The alien, coming out
of the ship, seems to be just small enough for the ship. But he is a small
creature, as indicated in the rest of the cartoon.
- Tom is making a sandwich. The wall is gray. When he slices the egg, the
wall is green.
- Tom slices one egg. The stack of egg slices is taller than the original
egg.
- When Tom walks back from where he came, the tiles are green again.
- The sandwich was being made on a table, parallel to the wall. In this
shot, it is now in front of a corner of the wall.
- There are a refrigerator and cabinets which weren't there before.
- When the alien eats the head of lettuce, there is a green background,
despite prior suggestion of more objects behind him.
- When Tom looks accusingly at Jerry, who he thinks has eaten the sausage,
Jerry is standing on the stool. In the close-up, he is sitting.
- Again with the "background glitch" (this time it's gray), this time with
Jerry shrugging.
- Jerry is larger than the chicken in the refrigerator.
- Again with the "green background" glitch, this time with the alien
eating the sandwich.
- The alien eats the sandwich, on the table, but is behind the table in
the next shot.
- Again with the "gray background" glitch, this time with Jerry shrugging
again.
- When Jerry is walking along the tiled floor, on part of the floor, the
tiles aren't drawn.
- Jerry, and the alien, disguised as Jerry, appears to be
disproportionately large to the furniture in the background.
- When the alien, disguised as Jerry, runs into the real Jerry in the
laundry room, it is unclear how he got there and where the room is in
relation to everything else.
- Tom chases Jerry, and then goes back to the kitchen. It's unclear how he
got there and where it is in relation to the laundry room.
- It is unclear how the alien, disguised as Jerry, gets into the pie that
Tom takes from the refrigerator.
- When Tom slips on the soap, it is unclear where he is in relation to the
kitchen.
- When Tom flies out the window, he flies out in the direction from where
he came. It was vaguely suggested before that that this is where the kitchen
was. However, now there is a room with a window.
- Tom is stuck in a tree. It's unclear how he got there.
- When Tom is in the tree, the alien transforms right below him, yet Tom
doesn't see this.
- The doghouse changes color from red to brown.
- Jerry sees the alien morph into Spike, yet he has no reaction and
doesn't understand what's going on until the end, as it is suggested with
all the characters.
- Again with the "gray background" glitch, this time with the alien
disguised as Spike.
- Jerry chases the alien, disguised as Spike, stage right, out of the
kitchen. In the next shot, the alien is outside, next to Spike's doghouse.
He enters stage right. Awkward continuity.
- Spike's doghouse is now repaired.
- Spike covers Jerry with his dish when Jerry is standing. Jerry seems to
"disappear" into the dish.
- When Spike picks up the dish, Jerry is now laying down in the dish.
- Spike is facing stage left when he picks up the dish. In the next shot,
he is facing stage right.
- When Spike throws the dish to the alien, disguised as Tom, it sails in
front of a bush, which is not on the same plane as the path to the alien.
- Same thing when the alien throws the dish back.
- Again when Spike throws the dish back to the alien.
- In the aforementioned scene, the "background" glitch (this time it's
blue) occurs with Spike a few times.
- When Spike and the alien, disguised as Tom, throw the dish back and
forth, Spike throws it underhanded and near the ground. However, continuity
suggests it was thrown higher in the air.
- The size of the yard is unclear when Spike chases the alien, disguised
as Tom, around. They seems to get disproportionately small when they are
running near the fence.
- It is unclear where the door to the house is in relation to the kitchen.
- The layout of the house, during the chase between Spike, Tom, and the
alien, disguised as Jerry, is unclear. Room sizes and rooms' proximity to
one another keep changing.
- The dish, with Jerry in it, sails in through the window. He must have
been sailing for a couple minutes in that dish.
- Again with the "gray background" glitch, this time with Spike.
- Tom, Jerry, Spike, and the alien run into the closet. The door closes by
itself.
- When Tom turns on the light in the closet, we can see that one of
Spike's eyes isn't painted.
- There are clothes in the closet, which aren't shown during the close-ups
in the closet.
- Again with the "gray background" glitch, this time with the alien eating
the sandwich.
- The alien escapes at the end. Continuity suggests he gets to his ship
too quickly.
- The colors of the tiles change constantly from blue to green in this
episode.
80-23 "The
Hypochondriac Lion"
- When the lion announces he hears a noise in his ears, his whiskers
keep disappearing as his mouth moves.
- Tom washes his hands in a water dish that wasn't in the opening
shot.
- Tom and Jerry's black bag keeps changing angles from one shot to the
next.
- Jerry blindfolds the lion with the cloth, which has a hole, that he
was going to put on the lion's finger. The cloth is now larger and the hole
is gone.
- When the lion takes the cloth off his head, the splinter is gone.
- When Tom and Jerry get wrapped up in the eye chart and send the lion
flying into the wall, the wall is one that was not in that proximity
before.
- When the lion shows the splinter to Tom, dressed as the female lion,
the splinter is in the wrong finger.
- When the lion takes the treasure map, the direction he is facing
changes from one shot to the next.
- In the scene where Tom hides in the tree and hangs down to get the
splinter from the lion's paw, part of his muzzle is colored gray for a
couple frames.
- The lion purportedly walks north, and then east, but doesn't
actually change direction.
- When Tom hides behind the bush and tries to take out the splinter,
the lion's paw is larger in relation to Tom.
- When the lion takes "40 tiptoe steps south", he runs into a wall
that wasn't there before.
- The lion purportedly walks south in the opposite direction from
when he was walking east.
- When the lion puts his paw behind the wall, and Tom uses a vice to
pull the splinter, the vice slams into the wall, despite prior suggestion
that it was not lined up with the wall.
- The lion walks in the opposite direction, from where he came from,
to the grab bag, which wasn't there before.
- The lion walks off stage right to go the grab bag. He enters the
next scene stage right.
80-31 "Give 'Em The Air"
- When The Purple Baron flies around the post in the beginning, the
perspective is awkward and one gets the impression that the windsock is
unusually large.
- When The Purple Baron's plane scrapes the megaphone, there is a solid
blue background, despite prior suggestion of a more detailed background.
- When The Purple Baron's friend looks through the binoculars, he sees that
Tom and Jerry are flying perpendicular to them. However, when they drop the
brick wall, Tom and Jerry are flying parallel to them.
- Tom and Jerry fly toward the floating wall at an awkward angle.
- The Purple Baron is sent down by his balloon and he lands in a
countryside scene. It isn't clear how he got there and where it is in
relation to everything else.
- The wall changes in proportion to the plane, as we see when it has fallen
on The Purple Baron's plane.
- The Purple Baron's friend climbs on the rope ladder stage right of the
plane. In the next shot, he is on the ladder stage left of the plane.
- The ladder gets longer when it falls from the plane.
- When The Purple Baron tries to pull the rip cord, the cut between
wideshot and close-up is awkward.
- When The Purple Baron falls into the haystack, it's unclear how he got
there and where the haystack and farm are in relation to everything else.
- In the scene where The Purple Baron's friend is holding the bag of
cement, the plane changes size.
- When the plane is covered in cement, this is clearly more cement than
could have been in the bag.
- When The Purple Baron falls out of the plane, covered in cement, it
isn't clear how he fell out. There is just a cut to the next shot of him
falling.
80-34 "The Egg And Tom And Jerry"
- When the eagle covers her egg with a blanket, the egg gets smaller
compared to the nest. The egg is restored to its original size in the next
shot.
- When Tom and Jerry are walking at the side of the road, the background
changes from one shot to the next.
- The background changes again when Tom runs into the middle of the street
to rescue the egg.
- The background changes again in the shot where Tom juggles the egg.
- Jerry rushes out into the road to catch the egg, but in the next shot,
where he catches the egg, he's on the grass.
- In the close-up of the baby eagle saying "Mommy," to Tom, the background
is green, despite prior suggestion of a more diverse background.
- Same glitch, this time with Tom whistling for the mother eagle.
- In the scene where the mother eagle is trying to teach Jerry to fly, the
nest is drawn at an awkward angle.
- In the scene where Jerry runs down the tree only to meet the mother eagle
at the bottom, the background painting is incomplete, getting cut off at
stage right.
- When Jerry stops in front of the mother eagle, the background changes
from one shot to the next.
- In the shot where the mother eagle indicates to Jerry that he should
fly, not walk, the eagle is the size of a tree in the background.
- Jerry "flies" a shorter distance to reach the nest above him than was
suggested when he ran down the tree.
- In the scene where Tom "flies" for the baby eagle, continuity suggests
that he ascends to the sky way too quickly.
- In the scene where Tom falls into the water, his left arm is
disproportionately small.
- When Tom puts the baby eagle in the tree, the top of his muzzle is
painted gray for a couple frames.
- When the mother eagle "rescues" Jerry from Tom, it's unclear where she
is in relation to Tom and the baby eagle.
- When the mother eagle throws Jerry up to the tree and helps him get up,
she stops in mid air, using nothing to fly, while giving Jerry an extra
boost.
- When Tom falls into the mud with the nest, he has fallen in a mud puddle
that wasn't there before.
- When the nest is on Tom's head, the nest is bigger than before.
- Tom climbs up the tree, carrying the baby eagle in his left hand. When
he sticks it through the nest, the eagle is in his right hand. In the
close-up, it's in his left hand again.
- In the aformentioned close-up, Tom's thumb looks like it's growing out
of his palm.
- In the scene at the end where the eggs hatch, the eggs are larger than
some trees.
- When the baby chickens chase Tom and Jerry down the street, Tom and
Jerry are drawn at an angle inconsistant with the background.
- The egg changes size a number of times throughout the cartoon.
80-12 "Watch Out, Watch Dog"
- The size of the crate, containing Spike, in relation to the truck,
changes.
- It is unclear where Tom and Jerry, carrying their mops, are in
relation to Spike and the two men.
- It is unclear where the front of the store is in relation to the
warehouse section.
- One of the men seemingly teleports from the warehouse section of the
store to the front of the store.
- It is unclear where the punchclock is in relation to everything
else.
- The next scene, with Spike first approaching Tom and Jerry, adds
more confusion. This is yet another part of a store whose size and layout
are unclear.
- The white spot on Tom's tail isn't painted for a couple frames, in
the scene in which he carries his lunchbox.
- Spike stopped at the coatrack, after a fast spin, seemingly too
quickly.
- It is unclear where Spike found the coatrack.
- It is unclear where Spike is, now at the hat counter, in relation
to the aformentioned scene.
- When Tom and Jerry run to the escalator, it is unclear how they got
there and, again, where it is in relation to everything else.
- The color of the floor at the escalator changes color.
- Tom and Jerry run off stage left and reenter stage left.
- Tom and Jerry teleport from the escalator to the clothing section
of the store.
- Tom and Jerry run off stage left and reenter stage left, again.
- The perspective of Tom and Jerry, when they run in front of the
stairs, is confused.
- It isn't clear where the door, which Tom and Jerry try to open, is
in relation to everything else.
- When Spike pulls down the escalator, Tom and Jerry's sizes in
relation to it change.
- In the scene where Spike breaks through the wall, it is unclear how
he got there and where it is in relation to everything else.
- When Tom and Jerry run through the clothing section, it is still
unclear where it is in relation to everything else.
- Where the photo department is in relation to everything else is not
clear.
- When Spike prepares to have his photo taken, the wall behind him
changes color.
- Where Tom and Jerry are in the photo department is unclear.
- Where Spike is standing, in relation to the curtain behind him in
the photo department, changes from wide shot to close-up.
- Spike runs out of the photo department, stage right, despite the
suggestion of a wall being in his way.
- Spike had entered the photo department, stage left, from the
clothing department. He reenteres the clothing department, from the photo
department, stage left.
- In is unclear where the bed department is in relation to the wig
department.
- When Tom (or Jerry) looks through the periscope, the eye is painted
a flesh color, a color which neither Tom or Jerry have.
- Spike, Tom, and Jerry are much smaller when they are inside the
waterbed.
- It is unclear where Spike is in relation to Tom and Jerry, in the
waterbed scene.
- When the swordfish breaks the bed, he grows much larger. Tom and
Jerry also return to normal size.
- There is way too much water coming out of the waterbed.
- Where the sports department is, in relation to the waterbed
department, is unclear.
- Spike gets hurled into the wall, by the water, outside the sports
department, where some surfboards are placed. Yet, in the next scene,
he is flying on a surfboard through the sports department.
- Exactly where Spike is flying on the surfboard, in relation to
everything else, is unclear.
- Spike turns around and crashes into a wall that wasn't present in
the previous scene.
- Where the toy room is in relation to where Spike just ran from is
unclear. It is, however, suggested that it is where the bed department
actually was.
- Tom and Jerry's sizes, in relation to the toyshelves, change.
- It is unclear where the rubber toys are in relation to the rest of
the toy section.
- Spike flies out of the toy section, yet continues to pass some more
toys.
- Where the toy section and the revolving door are in relation to
each other is unclear.
- Spike reenters the toy room the same way he came out. Yet,
different objects-- a slide in this case-- are there.
- It is unclear where the children's clothing section is in relation
to the couch section.
- Spike is thrown off the hide-a-bed in a sitting position, toward
the front of the screen. In the next scene he is flying horizontally,
entering the scene from stage right.
- When Spike is laying in the pram, half of his muzzle is painted
like the bonnet he is wearing.
- When the man enters the store, it is unclear where he, and the
front of the store, are in relation to Tom, Jerry, and Spike in the pram
section.
- Tom and Jerry push Spike off stage left, and reenter the next scene
stage left.
- In the closeup of Tom "talking" for Spike, the background changes
somewhat.
- One of the men is standing in front of the door. The next shot
suggests he isn't.
- Tom, Jerry, and Spike's proximity to the drawers in the background
changes.
- In the last chase sequence, the proximity of different departments
to each other is confused, yet again.
80-25 "The Super Cyclists"
- When Jerry revs up his motorcycle, the motorcycle moves but he doesn't.
- When Tom is first shown on his motorcycle, you can't see Jerry. In the
shot where Tom blows exhaust in Jerry's face, Jerry is immediately behind
Tom's motorcycle.
- Tom and Jerry seemingly teleport to the starting line (i.e., the
background changes).
- Jerry is not wearing his bowtie in the beginning.
- Tom and Jerry ride their motorcycles parallel to each other. However,
when Jerry's motorcycle gets stuck in the "ditch" that Tom made, he runs
into it in a perpendicular fashion.
- It is suggested, in scenes where Tom and Jerry aren't together, that Tom
and Jerry are the same size compared to the road.
- The road bends at an agle to the haystack that Tom gets trapped in.
However, when Jerry rides past the haystack, the road is parallel to it, and
does not bend.
- Tom rides past the diner on the road. When he backs up to it, he is at
the side of the road. There is no indication that he made any kind of turn
when backing up.
- The road is parallel to the diner. When Tom is drinking a soda and
watching Jerry ride past, the diner is at an angle to the road.
- The "Water Hazard" sign is next to the puddle of water. When Tom rides
through the water, the sign is no longer there.
- In the scene where Jerry walks his motorcycle out of the water, the
perspective he is drawn at does not match the perspective of the background.
- When Tom finds the "take the train" billboard, there is a bush next to
the road. In the shot where Jerry rides "into" the billboard, the bush is no
longer there. The bush is back again in the next shot; Tom was hiding inside
it.
- When Tom rides up to the billboard, there are a few feet separating Tom
from the billboard. In the next shot, he is immediately in front of the
billboard.
- In the scene where Tom jumps over the hills on his motorcycle, his
laughter can still be heard even after his mouth stops moving.
- Tom rides over the hills and then into the sky at a "cloud level." He
then crashes onto the ground with no indication of him falling a long
distance.
- When Tom passes Jerry, heading towards the retracting bridge, the bridge
is no longer there in a shot that is seen from Jerry's level.
- The aformentioned scene is drawn at an angle. Tom, however, rides in a
perfect profile, and in a straight line, towards the rectracting bridge.
- In the scene where Tom is looking through the binoculars, his left foot
is not drawn.
- In the same scene, Tom starts to laugh, but his mouth doesn't move.
- When Tom stops to stretch, and then nap, his tail appears to be growing
out of one of his legs.
- Jerry's size changes in relation to Tom's motorcycle from one shot to
the next.
- In the scene where Tom's tire pops, his laughter continues even after
his mouth closes.
- The "Slow" sign is facing away from the road.
- In the scene where Tom tries to stop Jerry with the rubber tube, the
cacti behind him are disproportionately small.
- The background in this scene is different from the one used when Tom's
tire first popped.
- Tom is larger than the inside of the "champ" cup that he's sitting in.
80-28 "The Police Kitten"
- It's unclear where the cheif is in relation to Tom and Jerry.
- It's unclear where Katy O'Kitty is in relation to Tom and Jerry when we
first see her.
- In Katy O'Kitty's close-up, there is a solid green background, despite
prior suggestion of a more detailed and diversely colored background.
- Tom is as tall as the woman whose cat is stuck up a tree. That puts him
at about 5 feet tall.
- Jerry seemingly teleports to where he tries to catch Tom.
- The top of the tree that the kitten is stuck in keeps changing.
- It is unclear what path Tom, Jerry, and the kitten take to get to the
ruptured water main.
- When the crew finds the little boy, the kitten is standing in front of a
bush. In the close-up shot, she is standing next to it.
- When the little boy stands up, excited about getting to ride with Tom,
Jerry, and the kitten, Tom isn't there. In the next shot, Tom is there.
- The boy puts Tom on his skateboard and sends him down a hill that wasn't
there before.
- When Tom goes down the hill to the sign that he winds up hanging from,
the landscape changes too quickly from suburban to city.
- When Tom, Jerry, and Katy go to the alley to face The Alley Cat
Gang, the distance between the hideout and where Tom and Jerry go to get the
battering ram gets longer than previously suggested.
- The battering ram was not there before but it is now.
- The position of the alley cats inside their hideout changes from wide
shot to close-up, and again to wide shot.
- It is unclear where the soda machine is in relation to the chief. It
seems he walks to it through where Tom, Jerry, and the kitten are standing.
However, he is not seen walking past them.
- Again with the "green background" glitch, this time with Katy O'Kitty.
- Again with the "green background" glitch, this time with the chief.
- Again with the "green background" glitch, this time with Tom, Jerry, and
Katy O'Kitty.
- In scenes with Tom driving the police car, the part with the steering
wheel is on the same plane as his legs.
80-30 "The
Outfoxed Fox"
- When the dog laughs at the fox in the tree, the background changes from
one shot to the next.
- When the fox flies into Tom and Jerry's home, there is a purple rug and a
couch. When he's actually shown in the home, there are green tiles and no
couch.
- When the fox drinks tea, he is placed against a tan background, despite
prior suggestion of more in the background.
- When Jerry runs to get the door, it seems that the distance between the
kitchen and the door has increased, and the background has changed again,
including the couch reappearing by the door.
- Again with the "tan background" glitch, this time with the dog.
- When Tom and Jerry gulp, it is unclear where they are in relation to the
dog in the kitchen.
- When the fox is disguising himself as a lamp, it is unclear where he is
in relation to the kitchen and to Tom and Jerry.
- It is unclear where the chest of drawers is that Tom and Jerry hide the
fox in.
- The chest of drawers is disproportionately large compared to Tom.
- The chest of drawers is drawn at an angle inconsistant with the
background.
- When the dog is standing next to the tub, he's at the stage left side.
When he drains the tub, he is standing stage right of it.
- The tub's proximity to the wall continually changes in this scene.
- The position of the bathtub faucet continually changes in this scene.
- When the fox is laying at the bottom of the tub, we can see that the
wall is drawn at an awkward angle in relation to the tub.
- When the dog dives into the tub, he jumps from further away than he was
previously suggested to be.
- When the fox lays on his stomach on the floor, there is a chair near
him. In the next shot of him on the floor, the TV is near him instead.
- When Jerry gives the fox the hot chocolate, the floor and the wall
changes color.
- When the fox is drinking the hot chocolate, his body is placed at an
awkward angle.
- When the fox spits out the hot chocolate, Jerry flies off camera. In the
next shot, he's back where he started.
- When the fox drinks the hot chocolate the second time, Jerry disappears
from the camera.
- When the dog, with the vaccuum cleaner, is standing outside, there is a
crease on the vaccuum cleaner that looks more like a "pants crease" that
belongs on the dog.
- When the fox tells Tom and Jerry to hide, save, and protect him, the
background changes from close-up to wide shot.
- When Jerry opens the door, we, once again, see a purple carpet with
couch inside.
- When Jerry laughs at the dog, about to demonstrate the vaccuum cleaner,
his mouth doesn't move.
- It's unclear where Tom and Jerry are in relation to the dog and fox.
- The vaccuum cleaner constantly changes size in this scene.
- Continuity suggests that the dog, vaccuum cleaner in hand, goes outside
too quickly.
- When the fox complains about the dog harrassing him, the background
changes from wide shot to close-up.
- When Tom turns on the TV, the bottom part of his muzzle is painted gray
for a couple frames.
- When Tom starts to exit the room after giving the fox the sundae, it's
unclear where he is in relation to the fox.
- When the fox throws the sundae and it lands by Tom, it's still unclear
where Tom and the fox are in relation to each other.
- When the fox leaves Tom and Jerry to clean up, it's unclear where they
are in relation to each other.
- In the scene where the fox relaxes on the couch, there is a painting in
the background that wasn't there before.
- Again with the "tan background" glitch, this time with the fox.
- It's unclear where the refrigerator is in relation to where the fox was
relaxing on the couch.
- When the fox leaves the house, the front of the house changes from the
establishing shots of it that were previously shown.
- The fox walks away from the house, heading stage left toward the dog. In
the next shot, when he's with the dog, he's standing to stage left of the
dog.
- Tom and Jerry "fish" the box of food back from their second story
window. However, when it shows them eating the food, they are in front of
the first story window.
- When the fox and dog look at Tom and Jerry eating, they aren't very
close to the house. In the next shot, they are standing right next to it.
- Previous shots of the house suggest that there is only one story, not
two.
- When the fox cries at the end, his entire body moves except for his
tail.
- The shade of green on the tiles constantly changes throughout this
episode.
80-17 "Towering Fiasco"
- In the beginning, the dog seemingly pops in the door out of nowhere.
- The woman gives Tom the dog's leash. In the next shot, it is attached to
the dog, with a harness, which wasn't there before.
- The hallway seems much longer than before when the dog pulls Tom and
Jerry toward the elevator.
- It is unclear how Tom and Jerry got to the stairs.
- It is unclear where the street is in relation to the apartment building.
- When Tom puts the leash on the fire hydrant, he is actually putting it
behind the hydrant.
- The butterfly flies high in the sky. In the next shot, at the
construction site, it is near the ground.
- Tom and Jerry stand on the ground at the construction site. In the next
shot, an elevator that wasn't there before appears.
- It is unclear where the wheelbarrow and wooden platform are in relation
to everything else.
- When Tom gets in the wheelbarrow, it goes up the side of a steel beam.
Looking at the construction of the beam, there is no way that this could
happen.
- After the wheelbarrow scene, Tom grabs the beam. There is another beam
behind him. In the next shot, the second beam is no longer there.
- Tom was hanging from a beam high in the air. In the next shot, he is
hanging from a beam close to the ground.
- It is unclear where the fruitstand is in relation to the construction
site.
- When Tom gets covered by the apples, the amount of apples decreases from
one shot to the next. Their color also changes slightly.
- It is unclear how the dog got back to the construction site.
- It is also unclear how Tom and Jerry got back to the construction site.
- When Tom tries to make a bridge out of a plank of wood, he flies
forward. In the next shot, he is hanging by the dog's leash, but it's
unclear how he grabbed it, because it doesn't show it.
- Jerry runs off the screen. In the next shot, he is making a bridge out
of boards. It isn't clear where he got the boards, hammer, and nails.
- Tom and the dog fall. We hear a crashing noise off screen, suggesting he
fell on the ground. However, in the next shot, he is hanging from a beam
with the dog.
- When Jerry scratches his head, he is standing near a beam. In the next
shot, he is standing on the beam.
- Jerry retrieves the box of dog biscuits much too quickly.
- When Jerry climbs the pole on the elevator to get to the elevator
switch, the pole seems much taller than the next scene suggests.
- How Jerry got back on the ground is never made clear.
- There are some "motion lines" next to a beam of wood, attached to the
dog's leash, when the beam of wood is still.
- When the dog takes Tom out of the wheelbarrow, Tom gets bigger.
- The wheelbarrow mysterioiusly disappears.
- One of Tom's legs is shorter than the other in this scene.
80-37 "The Lost Duckling"
- The duck falls vertically, but then falls at an angle when he bumps into
Tom and Jerry.
- The duck slides down a hill far away from Tom and Jerry. In the next
shot, he is near them and on level ground.
- When Tom picks up the duckling, there is a blue background, despite prior
suggestion of a more detailed background.
- The duckling falls in Jerry's arms and starts to cry. In the next shot,
as he is still crying, he's on the ground.
- Again with the "blue background" glitch, this time with Tom nodding.
- When the duckling, in the paper airplane, says "I'll hold on tightly this
time," he is on the ground. The next immediate shot shows Tom holding him
and the airplane in the air.
- Tom throws the paper airplane stage right. The airplane flies around, and
reenters the shot with Tom and Jerry, stage left.
- There is nothing to explain how Tom wound up on the paper airplane with
the duckling.
- There is nothing to explain how the paper airplane unfolds, when Tom and
the duckling "hang glide."
- In the scene where the duckling asks the pelican for help going south,
the background changes from wide shot to close-up.
- When the pelican leaves Tom, Jerry, and the duckling in the tree, none
of them are really standing on anything solid.
- When Tom addresses the envelope to Florida, it cuts immediately to a
wide shot where the envelope is now upside down.
- When Tom puts the envelope in the mailbox, there is a line drawn through
his arm, which is now detached from his body.
- In the scene where Tom, Jerry, and the duckling catapult themselves, the
box breaks. However, there is nothing to show the box breaking down to the
two remaining pieces that Tom ultimately holds.
- When Tom buys the balloons, there isn't a smooth transition from one
scene to the next.
- When Jerry and the duckling push the cookie box towards Tom, they are by
the side of the road. In the next shot, there is no road.
- In the establishing shot of the airport, the airplane flies in at an
awkward angle.
- In this same establishing shot, we see two freight boxes, but no
characters. In the next shot, Tom, Jerry, and the ducking are in front of
these boxes.
- In the shot where Tom is hammering the box, the dumpster next to him is
drawn at a perspective inconsistent with the rest of the scene.
- The background changes slightly in the scene where the forklift comes to
pick up the freight.
- The forklift and the trash truck are the same size.
- The transition from the airport to the road isn't clear.
- The trash truck drives stage right. In the next shot, it is sitting
stage right in the dump.
- The freight box gets bigger after it falls out of the truck.
- When Tom holds the "south" sign, it is facing away from the road.
- In the scene with Blackie driving the car, Blackie's hand is "divided"
at the wrist like Tom's is.
- When Tom bumps into the policeman, he, Jerry, the duckling, and the
policeman are on the road. In the next shot, they are in the grass.
- Continuity suggests that the ducks land too quickly.
80-22 "Beanstalk Buddies"
- In the establishing shot, the color of the cabinet next to Tom is
brown. In the next shot, it is blue.
- There is also a cabinet another cabinet, in the establishing shot.
In the next shot, it isn't there.
- When Tom holds the bean, his left hand is disproportionately large.
- The table that Tom and Jerry sit at wasn't there in the establishing
shot.
- When Tom taps his fingers on the ground, it is unclear how he got to
that position from the last shot.
- In the aforementioned scene, the hand that is tapping is missing for
a couple frames.
- How Tom and Jerry fit under the castle door is anybody's guess.
- When Tom and Jerry run up onto the table that the giant is sleeping
at, they come to a stop to stage right of the turkey. In the next shot,
they are standing in front of it.
- The giant is sitting at the table when he announces that he smells
strangers. In the next shot, he is standing up and the table isn't
there.
- When the giant's dog scratches his back to find Tom and Jerry on
his back, he is facing stage right. In the next shot, he is facing stage
left.
- When Tom and Jerry escape the dog, they run off stage right and
back up the table. It is unclear where the table is in relation to the dog, but
it is vaguely suggested prior to this that the dog was probably to stage
right of the table when he first appeared.
- When the dog runs around with his eyes covered, he runs a long
distance before reaching the table. When Tom and Jerry ran away from the dog and
to the table, the distance was much shorter.
- When the dog announces to the giant that he "splattered them (Tom
& Jerry) good, his right arm appears to be growing out of his chest.
- In the aforementioned scene, the dog is the same size as the giant.
- In the scene where the dog dives into the cream cake, his muzzle is
colored the same color as the rest of his body, instead of brown.
- It is unclear where the golden goose is in relation to the table.
Since the dog chased Tom and Jerry to it, stage left, it seems they ran to an
area that was already shown. However, the goose wasn't there before.
- When Tom and Jerry are discovered in the goose's nest, Tom's tail
appears to be growing out of his right leg.
- When the dog grabs the magic harp, the harp gets bigger.
- The gold, when it falls to the sleeping giant, changes size from
one shot to the next.
- When the giant throws the dog off camera, he is sitting. In the
next shot, he is standing.
- When the giant appears in the room with a window, through which Tom
and Jerry escape, there is a door where there wasn't one before.
- When the dog comes flying in through the window, he lands far from
the window. In the next shot, when he is sitting in the giant's lap, he is
close to the window.
- When the dog announces he quit, he is standing up, nowhere near the
window.
- The dog runs stage left with Tom and Jerry, where the window once
was. However, there is now more room to run in the castle.
- When the dog, Tom, and Jerry are in Tom and Jerry's house, the
establishing shot shows them in front of the refrigerator, which is
closed. When the dog says "No food?", he gestures to the refrigerator, now
further away, which is now opened.
- When Tom and Jerry shake their heads to indicate there is no food,
one of the cabinets behind them is no longer there.
- The refrigerator, which was blue in the beginning of this episode,
is now green.
- The cabinets, which fluctuated between blue and brown in the
beginning, are now green.
- The ceiling and walls are blue in the beginning. The are now green.
- The dog, holding the harp, has an extra finger on his right hand.
- There are no legs on the table that has the huge meal.
- Tom and Jerry's kitchen now has a stone wall, like that of the
castle, and the wall is brown.
- Tom eats some fish, which was not shown on the table in the
establishing shot of the huge meal.
80-29 "Two Stars Are Born"
- It is unclear where the agent is in relation to Tom and Jerry's
lookalikes in the opening shot.
- In the closeup of the lookalikes, their proximity to the car changes from
the previous wide shot.
- When the agent stops the car, he points out the window, suggesting that
Tom and Jerry are to his right. However, he greets them by coming in stage
right.
- When the director talks to the lookalikes, the lookalikes' positions
change from medium shot to close-up.
- When Tom and Jerry come in to do their first stunt scene, the path they
take to get to where they need to play the scene is unclear.
- Tom is sprung up, from the TNT box, in a straight line. He falls down the
same way he came into an orange stand.
- Tom throws the rope to the roof on the other building. He and Jerry get
caught and swing towards the building, but hit the monster instead.
- The close-up of the monster holding Tom and Jerry is against a blue
background, despite prior suggestion of a more diverse background.
- Again, with the "blue background" glitch, this time with the monster hand
holding the lookalikies.
- Again with the "blue background" glitch, this time with the monster
holding Tom and Jerry again.
- Again with the "blue background" glitch, this time with the monster
fighting off the planes.
- When the plane nearly scrapes the agent and the lookalikes, they ascend
to the sky too quickly afterwards.
- The layout of the studio and the location of different sets throughout
this episode is unclear.
- It is never clear whether the "outdoor" scenes are actually outdoors or
just on a set.
80-39 "Son Of Gopher Broke"
- When Tom and Jerry spot the bug in the beginning, their proximity to the
hedge changes from one shot to the next.
- It's unclear where Tom and Jerry are in relation to their boss.
- There is a blue background behind Tom and Jerry in the machine, despite
prior suggestion of shrubbery.
- Again with the "blue background" glitch, this time with their boss.
- ...And again, with Tom and Jerry...
- The gopher seems to "teleport" from the garden to the fence.
- In the scene where Tom and Jerry, in their machine, spot the gopher, the
background changes from wide shot to close-up of Jerry.
- The gopher seems to have teleported somewhere else, in the scene where
he's spotted.
- It's unclear where Tom and Jerry are in proximity to the gopher.
- The steam shovel seems to get longer when it reaches for the gopher.
- In the scene where Tom and Jerry deposit the gopher and his hole into
the trashcan, it seems that the machine then goes "through" the trashcan.
- Again with the "blue background" glitch, this time with the gopher in
the trashcan.
- In the scene where Tom and Jerry are served sodas, their proximities to
each other change from one shot to the next.
- It's unclear where James is when Tom and Jerry ring for help.
- It's unclear how Tom and Jerry get inside the house.
- It's unclear where in the house the flowers are that the gopher is
eating.
- It's unclear where the couple, who arrives at the end, is in relation to
the garden and the mansion.
- When James deposits Tom and Jerry in the trashcan, it's unclear what
path he took to get to the trashcan.
80-26 "The
Sorcerer's Apprentices"
- The dog is shown standing in a cluttered background. In the next shot,
when he chases his tail, the background is cleaned up.
- In the close-up of Tom and Jerry, the messy background is no longer
there.
- The wizard stands next to a table that wasn't there before.
- Probably the most inexcusable mistake I've seen so far in these cartoons:
when the dog is shown chasing his tail again, if you freeze frame at the
right place, the snouts are detached from his face and floating in midair.
Most likely this happened as a result of different levels of animation (the
dog, and the snout) being shot out of sync with each other (for example,
levels A1 and B1 should go together. Perhaps A1 and B4 where shot together
instead).
- The table is smaller in a later scene.
- When Jerry first tries the wand on Tom's broom, Tom's proximity to Jerry
changes. He is now further away from him than before.
- A different table is inexplicably next to Jerry after he breaks Tom's
wand.
- When Tom and Jerry sit down to eat, it is unclear where the dog, who just
finished chasing his tail, is in proximity to them.
- When Tom turns into a lion, the dog's proximity to him changes from
medium shot to close-up.
- When the dog breaks the wand, Tom, as the lion, is no longer next to
him.
- When Lion-Tom and Jerry run away, they are no longer in a messy room.
- When the dog decides to have a magic duel, the background changes from
medium shot to close-up.
- When the dog and Tom and Jerry stand back to back for the duel, the
background changes again.
- When the dog sprays bug-Tom and bug-Jerry, his hand is
disproportionately large, about half the size of Tom.
- When bug-Tom and bug-Jerry fly away, there is a shot of the dog against
a different background than before.
- The background changes again when Tom and Jerry turn into men.
- Tom and Jerry have been turned into mice (well, Jerry into a different
mouse). When they change back, Tom is about the same size as his mouse
counterpart.
- When Tom is driving the car and sees he's about to hit a wall, you can
see that his hands are painted gray.
- In the same shot, Jerry also has no legs and is not sitting on anything.
- When the dog, now turned into a bug, takes out his wand, he slides along
the ground for no reason.
- When Tom and Jerry duck the spell that the bug-dog casts, they are
against a different background.
- When the dog makes Tom and Jerry reappear, they are against a different
background.
- When the dog turns around and sees that he's tied to the trophy case,
the trophy case is against a different background than before.
- When the dog bemoans "(The master) will flatten me!", he's against a
different background than before.
- It's unclear where the wizard, on his bed of nails, is in relation to
Tom, Jerry, and the dog.
- When the wizard sees the mess that was made, there are objects strewn
about that weren't even in the room before.
- When Tom casts the spell to turn back the clock, a different background
is behind him than before.
- It isn't clear where the clock is in relation to Tom, Jerry, and the
dog.
- When the dog bemoans having to start the day over and redo everything,
the background changes from wide shot to close-up.
- When everybody is sent back in time to the beginning of the day, the
dog, Tom and Jerry, are near each other. When Tom and Jerry get on the
flying carpet, they are nowhere near the dog, and the background has
changed.
- When Tom magically materializes ice cream cones for him and Jerry, Tom
and Jerry's proximities to each other change from medium shot to close-up.
- The magic wand, as a whole and in pieces, constantly changes size
throughout this episode.
80-38 "Hold That Pose"
- In the establishing shot, Tom and Jerry are on the near side of the
river. In the next shot, they are on the far side of the river.
- When Tom and Jerry escape the alligator, there is a blue background,
despite prior suggestion of a more detailed background.
- It is unclear how Tom and Jerry arrived upon the alligator that doesn't
try to eat them.
- Again with the "blue background" glitch, this time with Jerry.
- When Tom and Jerry escape the same alligator, the jump off stage left. In
the next shot, it is suggested that they jumped toward the background off
the alligator.
- The alligator is facing a different direction than in the previous shot.
- When Tom runs into the wild boar, his proximity to the bush behind him
changes from one shot to the next.
- There is nothing to suggest that the wild boar turns around to face
Jerry.
- Tom and Jerry escape the wild boar stage right-- where the river was.
However, they are now in another part of the jungle on land.
- Again with the "blue background" glitch, this time with Tom and Jerry in
the tree.
- When the boar chops the tree down, the piece that he whittles is
continually the same size, despite the fact that Tom and Jerry are seen
descending as they hold the tree, which is obviously getting smaller.
- When Jerry takes a picture of Tom, there's grass behind him that wasn't
there before.
- When the bird is hiding behind the tree, it's unclear where it he is in
relation to Tom and Jerry.
- When Jerry gets ready to photograph the leopard, the background changes
from close-up to wide shot.
- Tom and Jerry dive under the bird's legs. In the next shot, they aren't
under the bird's legs.
- When Tom and Jerry run from the leopard, the transition from one scene
to the next is unclear.
- Again with the "blue background" glitch, this time with Tom and Jerry on
the log.
- The log gets smaller after the bird pushes it off the cliff.
- When the log falls on the ground, it seems to "go through" the mountain.
- When Jerry is reading the book, there are shrubs behind him. In the next
shot, Tom is behind him.
- The photograph of the bird doesn't have any background.
- Tom and Jerry's proximity to the mayor changes from one shot to the
next.
- There is unclear continuity of how the birds landed at the site of where
Tom and Jerry get their reward.
80-32 "Chickenrella"
- In the establishing shot, the stepmother is in front of a window. In the
close-up, she isn't in front of the window.
- When Tom, Jerry, and Cinderella are thrown out of bed, it seems they fell
further than previously suggested, as the bed is no longer there.
- In a close-up of Tom, Cinderella, who was once standing next to him, is
no longer there.
- The stepmother, when she tells Tom that she wants the floor scrubbed,
seemingly teleports between Tom and Cinderella.
- It is unclear where the stepsisters are in relation to Tom, Jerry,
Cinderella, and the stepmother.
- When the stepmother describes her stepdaughters, her proximity to
Cinderella changes from close-up to wide shot.
- Jerry goes to the corner to get the broom. In the next shot, he's not in
the corner.
- Despite originiating next to a wall at stage left, Jerry is hurled, by
Tom, a long distance stage left where he slips on the soap.
- Again, the proximity of the stepsisters in relation to everything else is
unclear.
- In a close-up of Cinderella, there is a purple background despite prior
suggestion of a more detailed background.
- The stepsisters seemingly teleport from their room to another part of
the room-- or outside? It's unclear. There is some grass next to a wall in
the background.
- Again with the "purple background" glitch, this time with Cinderella
again.
- The stepsisters seemingly teleport back to their room.
- Again with the "purple background" glitch, this time with the
stepsister's shoes falling off.
- When the fairy godmother appears, she's facing stage right. In the
close-up, she's facing stage left.
- The fairy godmother's proximity to Tom, Jerry, and Cinderella changes in
this scene without explanation.
- It's unclear how the fairy godmother got to the other side of the room,
to where she says she'll try some magic.
- When the fairy godmother turns herself into a chicken, she seemingly
teleports from one part of the room to the next.
- When the fairy godmother turns Jerry into a pumpkin, in the next shot
the pumpkin is in a different location and Cinderella disappears. Cinderella
reappears in the next shot.
- The fairy godmother seemingly teleports from the shot where she restores
Jerry to normal, to where she gives Cinderella the glass slippers.
- When the fairy godmother gives Cinderella the glass slippers, she is
stage right of Cinderella. In the next shot, she is stage left of her.
- How Cinderella got turned into a chicken is not made clear visually.
- The layout of the room isn't clear throughout this scene.
- The king's advisor disappears from close-up to medium shot.
- In the scene where the stepdaughters meet the prince, there is a
close-up with the fat stepdaughter. In this close-up, there is a solid
green-yellow background, despite prior suggestion of a more detailed
background.
- When the stepmother tells the thin stepdaughter to dance with the
prince, the fat stepdaughter, who was standing next to her, is gone.
- There was a line of people to meet the prince. The line is no longer
there.
- When Tom whispers to Jerry, his tail is on the same plane as a wall that
is closer to the camera than he is.
- The stepdaughter "conveniently" stops dancing long enough for Jerry to
pull off her wig.
- The stepmother seemingly "teleports" with her fat stepdaughter to the
prince's throne, where she presents the fat stepdaughter to dance.
- The fat stepdaughter "conveniently" stops dancing long enough for Tom to
spill the marbles under her feet.
- Tom spills a few marbles under the stepdaughter's feet. The next shot
suggests more marbles than Tom spilled.
- It's unclear where the clock, chiming midnight, is in relation to
everything else.
- The stepdaughters peek out a stone window and shake their heads. In the
next shot, it shows them next to a wooden window of a different shape.
- Again with the "green background" glitch, this time with the fat
stepdaughter.
80-33 "Double Trouble Crow"
- The closeup of the crow has a blue background, but in the previous
scene there was plenty of corn in the background directly behind him.
- One link on the handcuffs gets smaller when it transfers to Jerry. I
hope this was intentional. The chain also gets longer.
- The crow flies away after cuffing Tom and Jerry. There is clearly a
wall of corn, stage left. However, he flies past that to an area where there
is a huge clearing in the corn. Continuity not clear.
- The crow is standing on nothing in the scene where he smells the hot
buttered corn.
- The crow starts talking from his "invisible perch" and finishes the
sentence in a completely different scene, where he is standing atop a
box.
- Once again, in the next scene, the crow is standing in front of a
blue background, but the next shot suggests plenty of corn is behind him.
- Where the river is in proximity to the cornfield isn't clear.
- After Tom and Jerry put the crow on the train, there is another blue
background where there obviously shouldn't be.
- Jerry pushes the dish off screen right, but the pushes it in the
next scene in scene right as well. No continuity.
- When the trucker backs up to the airplane, it seems that the
cornfield is gone.
- Tom pulls the hat down on the scarecrow then runs away, somehow not
pulling his arms out of the sleeves of the jacket. Seems they just
"slip" through.
- The jacket somehow defies gravity after Tom runs away.
- The armored car is in the cornfield. The next shot it is a green
pasture. The shot after that shows it speeding down a road. The next
shot shows Tom and Jerry in the cornfield again.
- When Tom puts the crow in the rocket, somehow they are suddenly in
the desert.
- Tom and Jerry are suddenly in a field when they look through the
telescope.
- The crow is facing one way when he puts his head in the lens, but
another when it shows a full body shot of him looking in the lens.
- Tom and Jerry nod way too early when the crow says "Oh, you're
surrendering huh?"
- Suddenly they, and the other crows, are in the cornfield again in
the next shot.
- There is also yet another "blue background" with the crow
inconsistent with where he is. Then another.
- All the crows have different voices, but used the same one
throughout the cartoon.
80-35 "See Dr. Jackal And Hide!"
- When Jerry reminds Dr. Jackal of his name, his proximity and Tom's
proximity change in relation to Dr. Jackal's.
- The layout of the lab changes when Tom and Jerry bring tea.
- The monster runs a shorter distance to get to the closet than Tom and
Jerry do.
- The location of the stairs that Tom and Jerry run down is unclear.
- The continuity from Tom and Jerry running down the stairs, to their fall
at the bottom, is awkward.
- Tom, Jerry, the monster, and the cop run through an area where a wall was
previously.
- It is unclear where the monster has stopped when he shakes the armor.
- When the monster changes back to Dr. Jackal, a piece of the armor he is
holding disappears.
- Sometimes Dr. Jackal has 4 fingers, sometimes 5. And in the opening shot, he
has 5 fingers on one hand and 4 on the other!
80-36 "Triple Trouble"
- Tom and Jerry look at the diagram, right in front of the squirrel's tree.
In the next shot with Tom and Jerry, they are nowhere near the tree.
- Tom gets booted to stage right of the tree. He lands on the ground stage
left of the tree.
- The squirrel, seeing his tree being sawed down, gets into the elevator.
However, in the next shot, he is still at the top of the tree.
- When the squirrel exits the tree, he steps far away from it, but is near
it again when Tom catches him in the net.
- When the squirrel begs Tom and Jerry to spare his home, there is a
close-up of Tom against a blue background, despite prior suggestion of a
more detailed forest background.
- When Spike comes into the wood with the bulldozer, it's unclear where he
is in relation to Tom, Jerry, and the squirrel.
- When Tom, Jerry, and the squirrel watch Spike drive the bulldozer, the
background behind them changes.
- The background changes again with the cut to a medium shot.
- When the squirrel unscrews the bolt on the bulldozer with the wrench, the
perspective of the wrench is inconsistant with the perspective on the
bulldozer and the rest of the scene.
- After the squirrel finishes tampering with the bulldozer, the background
behind him changes from one shot to the next.
- Again with the "blue background" glitch, this time with Spike.
- Spike's steam shovel is missing a wall in a couple shots.
- The steamshovel is small compared to the tree that Spike wants to chop
down.
- The background changes in the scene where Spike flips the steam shovel
over.
- Even though Spike flipped the steams hovel in front of the tree, the
steam shovel is nowhere near the tree in the next shot.
- When Spike says "So let's make a deal," his mouth stops moving before
he's finished his sentence.
- At the end, Spike's proximity to the squirrel changes from one shot to
the next.
- Tom, Jerry, and the squirrels' proximities change in relation to Spike.
- The road running above the tree gets closer to the tree from one shot to
the next.

that he is describing on the phone.
- The background of the establishing shot of Tom and Jerry changes from far
shot to closeup.
- Inside the tree, the sandwich is shorter than its previous shot
- After the ant shakes Tom from inside the tree, it cuts to a closeup of
Tom, where the hole in the tree is larger than previously suggested.
- The background, behind the little ant, changes slightly from wide shot to
closeup.
- The background at Tom and Jerry's picnic is different than before.
- When the little ant carries the olives, the background changes again.
- When he trips, flinging the olives, it is unclear how far away the tree
that the olives land in is from him.
- During Tom and Jerry's baseball game, Tom is standing in front of a tree
in the establishing shot. In the close up shot, there is no tree.
- It is unclear where this new anthill is that the ants find.
- In one shot Tom holds the picnic basket. In the next shot, it is nowhere
to be seen.
- The scientist holds a plate of food. In the first shot there is a desk
near him. In the close up shot, although it should be, it is nowhere to be
seen.
- Tom and Benny are in the jar, they appear much larger than they should.
- Benny's size changes in relation to the other characters throughout this
cartoon. It isn't clear just how big he is.
- The ants constantly change color throughout this cartoon.
80-41 "The Bull Fighters"
- When the bull spots Tom and Jerry, it is unclear where the bull is in
relation to Tom and Jerry.
- When Tom and Jerry run from the bull, the fence behind them disappears.
- The dock that the bull slipped on disappears in the shot where Tom and
Jerry save the bull.
- Tom and Jerry fit in the well bucket...which is much smaller than them.
- When Tom and Jerry shake the bull's hand, from one shot to the next they
are in a different proximity to the bull.
- When Tom grabs the red dress, the dress gets smaller.
- It's unclear where the basket is, in relation to everything else, where
the fat man is hiding.
- When Tom and Jerry stand outside the fence that holds the bull, the bull
has no back legs, and is not drawn in a way that makes us believe they are
merely off screen.

- When The Fatwoman eats the apples, more apples than she actually eats
disappear.
- In the two shots that show the policeman with his hands tied, the
background changes from one shot to the next.
- The background behind the tailor changes from wide shot to close up.
- When Supercape explains his plight to Tom and Jerry, the background
changes in 4 different shots.

- When the cop kidnaps The Mustache, there is a blue background in one
shot, despite prior suggestion of buildings and the like--twice.
- When Supercape congratulates Tom and Jerry, the cop and The Mustache are
in one scene. In the next shot, they're gone.
- When Tom and Jerry fly away at the end, there is no transition to show
us how they get out of the apartment building.

- Spike seemingly appears out of nowhere after he catches Tom and Jerry
laughing at the picture of Spike.

Jerry ran over.
- It is never explained, in one scene on the planet Dog Star, what caused
Tom and Jerry to fall out of their space car.
- One of the dogs uses a mechanical claw to grab Tom and Jerry's space
car. In the next shot, the claw is gone.
- For a couple frames, the statue of the cat is colored red. The rest of
the time it is orange.
- When the leader confronts Tom and Jerry, there is shrubbary behind him.

longer any background behind him, despite the fact that he is inside what is
left of the statue, which has some background in it.
